I'm not sure what what the MGAdiag.exe tool is for other than a reporting tool, so am not surprised that there was no joy when I tried updating windows again.

Sleep tight GaRHaR.

Ran dial fix, registry cleaner, CC issues and rebooted.

HALLELUJAH! MS Manual updates works!

One problem the following updates were not installed. Even when I click on custom install.
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB936181)
Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB938827)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - September 2007 (KB890830)

At least it would appear that my permissions have been reinstated.

Excellent

From what I had read on that tool, it was supposed to reinstate the permissions as it ran the report. But apparanty that piece of information was incorrect.

Alot of updates won't install if they are superseeded. Which might be the case from all those.

I'll mark this as Resolved for now
