Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but am not 'up' on PC's!!
On start-up, I get the following message:

ERROR LOADING C:\WINDOWS\system32\hcfgdae.dll The specified module could not be found.

I have googled the dll file and came up with nothing, except programmes which charge a fortune to reinstall it, and found no help anywhere else. Is this problem serious? I've been having connectivity issues recently also (not sure if it's connected or not), have downloaded windows defender, run spybot also, and have McAfee Virus scan also. Is this something that can be easily undone? Have looked through various dll libraries to no avail! Thanks in advance, all advice greatfully received!! Emma

Ahh ok, the only way you can resolve this problem, from what i can see is to do a Non Destructive Recovery. This method keeps your files and settings intact, and re installs the Operating System like new. You will then need to re install any other programs that were not bundled with the PC.

Ok thank you! Have previously done a system restore to a point before this message came up, and am now running Windows Live OneCare virus scan, but nothing has helped yet. How do I do a Non Destructive Recovery - sorry for being a simpleton lol! Also, any ideas what's caused it? Is it a virus that McAfee hadn't picked up? Many thanks!

Whats the model of your HP Pavillion?
