Hey shellywelly,
The first thing that anyone would need to know would be the make and model of your wireless router. For example linksys wrt54g. In the bottom right portion of your screen you should see a little square box that blinks blue from time to time, it looks like a very small computer, if you double click it and go to the support tab you can find the 'default gateway'. If you cannot find it this way you can also click start, run, type cmd and hit enter. Type ipconfig and you will see the default gateway there as well. Type that 'IP' into a web browser like internet explorerer (IE). An example of an IP you might type into IE is 192.168.1.1 . At this point it is likely you will be asked for login information, most routers have by default a login name and password. Until we know the make and model of your wireless router theres no way any of us could know. Once we get you logged into your router we can take the next few hopefully very easy steps. Might I ask why you wish to change the routers name (SSID)?
