I'm trying to figure out a black screen of death problem. I uninstalled the video drivers (which were the latest ones) and removed my PNY Geforce 6600GT video card which was in the PCI Express slot. I had an extra regular PCI card sitting around which I assume was working. I plugged it in and tried to restart. The PC would shut off after 2 seconds - no POST, no beep. It would only start when I put the regular card back in. Is that normal behavior or is it telling me the old card is dead?? Is it possible a PC won't start if the graphics card is in a different slot than expected? Thanks.

I believe it's safe to say that the PCI card does not work.

Yes, it would. Other wise they wouldn't make PCI video cards.
