I have used this package with no problems. Then I was trying to increase space on my HD. I went to add/remove and removed word 2002 because I thought it was old. I didn't realize that works suite 2006 uses word 2002. I cannot remove or install the word 2002 off the installation CD. it says "windows installer service cannot be found" I also try to get to word thru the works task launcher it will open a new word doc but you can't type on it and the tool bar isn't activated. If I try and open an existing doc. it will open it but you can't change anything on it. Can you help? I also cannot restore prior to doing this. my system restore is turned on but it doesn't give me a restore point before this.

I did what you said and installed it, rebooted , tried to reinstall but it says it's already installed. I tried to uninstall works and word and it says it does it, but when I go to reinstall it says it's already installed. I even did it thru add/remove programs...it wouldn't let me do it due to the installer issue. I removed them from windows explorer it isn't there anymore, but the software installation says it is. attached are some of my errors. I couldn't attache docs got an error message never mind. They won't open now either. I can' t use the software to remove or reinstall.

Do you have a full copy of Windows XP?
or those useless restore discs?

I have a disc that came with the computer to "reinstall XP" I have used it before and it is the whole program. I have used it to upgrade from 2000 prof and it's all there.

It may be time for a "repair install" or at least a system file scan

how do you do a system file scan? I have the reinstall disc for xp but it only has sp1 on it. is that ok to use if the system file scan doesn't work?
