Default [Answered] Pc Wont Boot!

Hi i have a problem, my pc was manually shut off last night and when i turned it back on tonight the screen stayed blank but the computer seemed fine and running. I have tested the monitor, video card and all other components on a twin pc and all checked out fine. i also tried resetting bios via cmos jumper and pulled battery. i resently added 256 mb DDR (twin stick) so i now have 512 DDR that was the last thing ive done to the computer and that was about a month ago. any ideas on what i can check next?

Thanks, Gandy

Hello Gandy, Welcome to PCHF.

How can you tell that your PC is booting normally without the graphics card, can you hear the HDD clicking away, and the HDD light flashing? Do you hear the usual beep when you switch your PC on? Have you tried doing the reverse with your twin PC, but testing out components from your twin PC into your PC that is no longer working?

Hi and thanks for the reply madmonkey

i swapped out all hardware from the defective pc to the pc that works fine and there was no problem, however there are no beeps when i try and start the pc that is defective. all fans run and the hard drive makes the normal sounds. i did notice that when the pc is powered up the 3" floppy drive light does not come on i tried starting it up without the floppy but still no go.

If you PC usually beeps when starting up (and no longer does), then your problems are related to a problem onboard the motherboard itself. Either a short onboard the motherboard or a component not properly seated. Most commonly the CPU.
