Default [Closed] Courrupted registry

I was trying to install service pack two on my pc but it said i have invalid windows. so i tryed to copy over my friends registry it worked my computer trys to boot xp home sp2
but i actually have xp pro so it just sits at the screen before login and cant do anything.
I have tryed to boot mini windows 98 to replace my registry with a backup i made before i did it but it is to big to copy to disk where i can try to us another writeable version of the same program to replace my courupted reg. When i get home i think i can load a file splitter onto a floppy and split my reg up to make it work but if there is a way i can use system restore ouside the os that would work too. if i there is something i didnt cover you can reach me a rnnbob@gmail.com

It sounds as if you are running a pirated version of Windows.

I do not believe this is possible without reinstalling your operating system. I suggest purchasing a legitimate copy of Windows from Newegg (XP Home OEM is less than $100 and is all you will need) and using that to reinstall your operating system. Otherwise we cannot provide you support.

How do i clear my registry and import a back up. is this possible by booting dos? If it is really a big deal about my other posts then you could just delete this thread and i could make a new one with nothing about windows.

P.S. formatting and reinstalling a os is a last resort. I would just like to replace my bad registry with a back up that i already have.

As I've stated, I believe this is only possible through at least a repair installation of Windows, however I can't help you with that because you obviously are aware that what you're doing is illegal and clearly have no intent to purchase a legitimate copy. Even by making a new thread, we are still aware of the illegality of your Operating System.

I suggest purchasing a legal copy of your OS; then we'll be more than happy to help. You may make a new thread when you do. However, this thread is now closed.
