Lightbulb power supply poblems

hi im seraph, im having troubles with a new power supply i bought. last night my old one bit the dust and my computer shut down. so today i went out and bought a antec 500 watt earthwatts power supply. i thought i hooked it up right becuase the power turned on but i get long loud beeps. ive run into this problem once before when i took out my ram and put in a 1 gb. but somhow i fixed it and i dont remember how >_<. but yeah ive tried every type of set up with the connectors to the hard drive floppy and dvd drive. and everytime it just makes longggg beeps. so im out of ideas. can anyone help?

well, it depends on the brand of BIOS you have. try reseating your RAM, the video card. then try it.

well the computer itsel turns on so im assuming that means it works? it gives power to the dvd player becuase it blinks and the fan does move. also when i first opened it up it was a 24 connecter and the instructions showed me how to make a 20 conecctor for my type of computer but i noticed one of the copper isulation in the holes was missing. is that a big problem or no?
