i just got a nvidia geforce 7300 gt and memory now some guy who works at the place where i got it from told me i need a 350w power supply , is there anything else i should know/buy before i go and get a new power supply? o and he also told me my pc can only have a max of 512 mb memory, is this guy telling the truth or just wacko?

Not sure where this guy got his information from but I do know that the latest 552w supports up to 2gig of RAM. Check out: HP Pavilion 552w Memory Upgrades - 100% Compatible HP Pavilion 552w RAM Memory for example.

The Geforce cards do require a lot of power, and 350w sounds about right. To check your PC requirements, check out your PSU requirements from here: eXtreme Power Supply Calculator v2.5 (click GoLite).

i dunno, i have a P4 with a Geforce 6600GT i have overclocked to 500mhz core and 310mhz VRAM, using a 305Watt psu. and the recoomended is a 350 watt. depending on what you have, i bet it will work right.
