See if changing keyboards helps or using the original keyboard and different usb ports allows the keyboard to work.

What keyboard do you have? USB or PS2?
Strange, it should automatically recognize the keyboard. Have you tried going into the BIOS (pressing the delete key upon start) before installation?

When installing an operating system, it's a good idea to use a PS/2 Keyboard rather than a USB one. Here's an example of PS/2 ports:

Usually, the mouse plugs into the Green port and the keyboard plugs into the Purple one. Please make sure the keyboard you are using plugs into the PS/2 port. You may switch to a USB keyboard when you've finished installing.

I think that this problem happened to be my problem also when i did a reinstall. It didn't recognize my USB keyboard so i had to switch to my old PS2 keyboard. After Installing windows, you can then use now your USB keyboard.

Just like Rodents210 said, it's more adviseable to use PS2 keyboards than USB ones upon installing windows. Hope that helped!
