Ok, there are a few issues I'm thinking this could be.

Firstly could you provide me with a little more info? Which operating system was on the computer before trying to install windows XP and were you experiencing any problems? Is the XP CD a full retail CD or is it an upgrade CD?

We'll tackle the first (sorry if this is a bit obvious) issue first, can you check the CD for visible damage such as scratches and prints?

Thanks.

Ok, are you comfortable with downloading and burning ISO files?

Probably going to need to run a couple of hardware checks

Could you download this and burn it (You will need to burn it as an image file from burning software)

It is UBCD which basically contains a lot of utilities for troubleshooting and hardware testing, I will talk you though what we need to do once it is downloaded and burnt, a couple of the checks will take a while if that is ok but it will determine if the hardware is at fault.

Thanks

I have downloaded and burnt the cd. Would it be easier to talk me through it any other way than sending these post?
