I have a problem with my laptop and i hope someone can help me. Everytime i plug a usb drive such as my Ipod or a USB flash drive i get an error saying the drive is either corrupted or not formatted, and asks me to format it now. But if I take that same device to my desktop it will run just fine. I have reinstall both the motherboard drivers and USB drivers, I have tried updating and rolling back drivers as well. Can anyone please help, This is a notebook i use for school with valuable data on it that i cannot afford to lose. Thanks Everyone.



Laptop Specs: Toshiba 1.63 GHz Centrino Duo, 512Mbs of ram, 160gig HDD. 128 Onboard Graphics Accelerator.

Desk top specs- Intell Pentium D Core Duo 3.2 GHz. 1 Gig Ram, 256 NVidia 7900GS, 250 Gig HDD.

Welcome to PCHF - sorry for the delay in replying.

Try this;

1) Go to a PC where you know the drive works
2) Copy off all of the data on the stick
3) Format it and then put all of the data back on
4) Go back to your PC and test

I tried what you said but i still get the same error message saying it isnt formatted. Any other sugestions?
