Unhappy [Fixed]broadband router

how do I stop outsiders from hijacking my broadband router bandwidth?
I installed a router so my daughter could have internet in her bedroom but the other day one of the kids on the estate said his dad had picked up my router and was getting free internet. Is there any way to avoid this?

You should encrypt the network, meaning any computer attempting to access it would have to put in a network key or password. I'm sure someone will come along soon who has better knowledge to tell you exactly what you need to do. It's a pretty easy thing to do though so no worries

visit this page and click on User Guide. Linksys.com - Products/Wireless/Basic Networking/Broadband Routers/Wireless-G/WRT54G

you will need Adobe Reader installed to view it and the info you want is Chapter 2, page 9 entitled "Wireless Security".
