Default [Resolved] shutting down issues

hi, i know anyone only comes here when its bad news! this is mine.

need some help, the wifes laptop has suddenly started shutting itself down with no warning, it now does it after about 3 minutes. when it does the battery charging light flashes red.

things i have done:

swapped battery with another (we have 2 of the same laptops)
swapped power supply
swapped hard drives
formatted hard dive, reinstalled XP
swapped fan and heatsink in case it was overheating
swapped processor in case the other was fried
swapped memory sticks in case there was an issue with that.

so effectively i have put my laptop into hers ad it still does it, even in safe mode!!!

anyone any ideas? the only thing left is the motherboard

help me before i throw it through the nearest window!!!!!

Hi there and welcome to PCHF

Wow, you'd have thought that you would have isolated the problem with all of that huh!?
formatted hard dive, reinstalled XP
Curious to know how you did that with the shutdown time being so short...or are we talking about a Windows only problem?

What is the make and model number of the laptop?

hi, the laptop is a fujitsu siemens L7310GW

i reformatted using the other laptop as the shut down was so quick on the broken one.

I have now been into the bios and reset the default settings just in case something has been messed with, seems to have made a bit of a difference but it is still shutting down when it feels like it.

Upon investigation the keyboard is sticky like something has been spilt on it, so my last guess is that some liquid has got onto the motherboard and killed something!

I guess my last hope is to get it to a shop for them to take a look.

sorry if this is in the wrong section too!

Yes, it would appear to be your only non-replaced component...it's a shame.
Please choose your repair shop carefully, although you certainly sound as tho you know what you're doing here
