Hello
Well, ill try to cut along story short.
I turned my compuer off on friday night, all fine. Just turned it on, and i got this message
'Windows cannot load the locally stored profile.Possible causes include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If problem persists, please contact network administrator.
An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecovorably. The registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the systems image of the registry'
Now all of my music photos videos etc have gone, my connection for my internet was gone, have just redone that. but my games, real player and nokia phone suite are still there?
Any help or anything wouldbe greatly appreciated! thank you

Hello Chantelle
Welcome to PCHF ![]() What seems to have happened is that your profile is corrupt. Why you have some stuff from before and not other stuff from before (like your programs) is because when you install some programs, they are installed for all users. Other programs will only install for the user that installed the program. Don't worry because you didn't lose your music and other saved files. The very first thing I would do is back up important stuff to CDs or DVDs. It is quite possible that your hard drive could be on the path to failing. It is more likely that you just have a few bad sectors that need fixing. But just in case, you should have all your stuff backed up before a major problem occurs. The next thing I would do is run a chkdsk. Chkdsk will find and "fix" bad sectors on your hard drive. Click Start -> run -> type chkdsk /f /r and hit enter -> type Y then hit enter when the command prompt window pops up -> reboot your computer. After that is done, I would reboot the computer and go into safe mode (during boot up, keep hitting F8 until the boot options appear and hit enter on safe mode). Then log in as administrator. When you are in as administrator, navigate through Documents and Settings to your old corrupted profile name. Find your music (and any other important files/folders) and move them into their appropriate locations in the All Users profile under documents and settings. Unless you have other people using the computer, then just move the folders/files to your new user name. This is of course assuming that your old profile is still corrupt after the Chkdsk is done. Chkdsk may repair the corrupted sectors and fix your profile. Hope that helps!

When im back on normal mode, i get this message ' Your save folder is not valid. It may have been deleted, you may not have permissions to write it, or there may be another problem. Please chose a different folder.' Im assuming this is relating to my music folder? |
