Default [Pending] Clean install; doesn't recognise onboard graphics/sound

Hi, i've recently reinstalled xp after having problems with my pc. Installation went fine until i rebooted and the graphics didn't look right so i tried to change the screen resolution but it wouldn't let me and now it's set to 4(bit) ...the sound isn't working either as it doesn't recognise my onboard sound card..i really don't know what to do anymore with it...can someone help me please. Also I don't have the original discs for the pc anymore besides my xp disc....if anyone has suggestions can you please reply. thanks

I think you need to install the chipset drivers of your motherboard to be able to run the on-board graphics and sound smoothly. These can be found on the CD which came with the motherboard. Hope that helps!

i was just going to say that. yeah, you need to install the graphics drivers, and sound drivers, and sometimes the chipset drivers for your motherboard/sound card. i had the same problem when i reinstalled windows XP on my Gateway
