that 54mbps is just the Wireless network speed. the internet will be much slower,AT MOST 6mbps if you have broadband. also, signal strength of the WLAN, and the local internet traffic affect speed. have you tried other computers on the network? if they work at normal speed then it is your laptop.

The internet speed I have though is supposed to be 16mps, I went on a website to check out my internet speed and it registered it to be at the speed of an average 54k modem. So I thibk it is a problem with my laptop...any suggestions?
Thanks for the help, Jonathan |

if a website said the speed is that slow, it seems like a ISP problem maybe... i would call the ISP and ask them to run tests

mmhmm. another way to find out, is to get another computer, and hook it up, and see if it still runs slow. if it does, it is a ISP problem, if not, it could be a couple of other things.
