Hello folks,
Been having probelms with a newly purchased GeForce 7800 GS OC and wondered if anyone can offer me a spot of help. My computer meets the minimum spec (Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz, 1GB RAM), I got rid of the old cards drivers, put the card in and installed the drivers on the disk. I settled back to rejoice at my excellent purchase and superb graphics, but to my dismay get glitches with every game I try and play. Tiger Woods shows trangular patches of grey on the fairways; Age of Empires looks great then crashes; Half Life two has graphical glitches throughout (see through characters and faces with triangular blobs on). I assumed I didn't have the most up to date drivers so went to the Nvidia websire, got rid of the disk provided drivers and installed the new ones. Same problems, slightly different, but still existent. Have tried to play these on lower graphical settings but with no joy. Any advice on what might be the problem of what I can do? Many thanks.

Hello Ketchel, welcome to PCHF.
What make Geforce card did you buy (hopefully not Gainwood)? Also, what card did you have installed previously? |

Hi there,
I had a Radeon 9200 Famiily Sec card that came as standard when I bought the computer. The GeFroce graphics card I've got in now is by Nvidia. |

Hi Ketchel,
Welcome to the PCHF. ATI and nVidia are the graphics card designers, but they sell their designs to other companies, which was what monkey was asking for ![]() I'm not sure what his beef is with Gainward, i find they're pretty solid cards. It might be Xpertvision, Palit, Gainward, BFG, Power Vision...well the list goes on ![]() On the box you received the card in, it will have the manufacturers name

Thank you
![]() That's a nice manufacturer...so there shouldn't be problems with the hardware. You might find you need to upgrade your DirectX. Can you please let me know what version you're running? Goto Start -> Run -> dxdiag On the first page you get with this, you will see DirectX Version: down the bottom. It will most likely say DirectX 9 but i'm hoping there's a bit more information there.
