Hi Madgamer,

I don't have the Windows XP disc since Dell didn't provide the disc with computer purchase. However, I ran the sfc /scannow command and a box came up: Windows File Protection- Please wait while Windows verifies that all protected Windows files are intact... After about 1 minute the box disappears so I have no idea if this program worked or not.
I then put in the Verbatim USB Drive and got exactly what happend all the other times.

Incientally, I googled my problem and 1 of the answers on a site was to uninstall all of my USB ports and then reboot. The person felt that Windows would then correct the problem.
I'm reluctant to try this because I picture none of the USB ports working again. What do you think of this suggestion???

This is a very easy process: Go into device manager, hight each USB and press the delete key on your keyboard. If you have a category called "Other" delete anything under this category as well. Restart your PC and Windows will pick them up again.
