lol thanks okay so

The first message says

Setup was unable to verify drive C:

Your computer may not have enough memory to examine the drives, or your Windows 2000 CD may contain corrupted files.

then i push enter and (the first time it did something where it deleted my previous Operating System) and now it jumps to the next screen saying

Setup cannot access the CD containing the Windows 2000 installation files.

To retry, press ENTER. If you are not successful after several tries, quit Setup. Then, to restart setup, copy the Windows 2000 installation files to your hard disk.

and I have no idea how I'd do that in the command prompt anyways.

It should be dually noted that I am willing to go the Windows XP route, I also have an XP installation disk which came with my Dell computer that I'm using right now. Whatever you guys think is best. However as I look at this XP reinstallation disk it says Dell on it so I'm figuring its only good for Dell computers.

If it's the only XP disc you have then not such a good idea, as it's illegal to have the same copy of Windows installed on two PC's.

Is the Windows 2000 cd scratched at all? Can you try to clean the disc (How to Clean CDs | eHow.com), and then try again?

If we can't get you up and running on 2000, we always have 98 to fall back to, but would really like to get you running on 2000.

Tried cleaning the disk no dice. And I do notice a few scuffs and scratches which could be causing this problem.

So I'm at a standstill of where to go next? What if I had a different Serial number for XP, could I use the Dell XP Reinstallation disk then?

UPDATE

so for poops and giggles I wiped the disk on my shirt as a last pitch effort put the disk in and wham now its reading it. It verified drive C: and now its copying the files.

I've got my fingers crossed it continues to go smoothly.
