Default [Pending] Sound problem?

Hi all,

Just installed a Windows update and also been deleting some unwanted programs and ive now realised my sound won't work. When I click on the volume controls it says "there are no active mixer devices available".

I fear I may have deleted one of the sound files by mistake, is there a way to restore it?

Thanks
Richard

Hello C,

What devices do you currently have listed is Device Manager? - Go to My Computer, Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager under the category of Sound, Video and Game controllers.

hi madmonkey,

I have a similar problem, that came up just like this.
I don't remember doing something unusual.
I turned my laptop ''off the last time ''(hp nx9030/win xp pro), and everything was ok.

When I try to play a media file with media player I get the following messages.
The other players also give similar mesages.

When I click on the mesage, I get a ''bip'' sound.

I also have a bluetooth connection problem, but I don't know if the two problems are related.

This is what I have, in my device manager.

Could be codec related Akylas. Can you play any types of file at all through Media Player, mp3, mov, avi? Which ones are causing your problems?

Hi Akylas, we will need to do some fault finding here, at this point to narrow your problem down further. What applications can you get sound out of if any?
