Question [Pending] Help Please HDD error

Hello firstly to you all!!!
I have a problem with my pc..running xp but last week my kids went online and got 7 viruses omg.. ok pc went into shock ...got an antivirus called avast couldnt put in chest wouldnt do.. put it in delete, wouldnt either... I did a scan disk at boot time and pc just crashed it is now saying error no HDD?? I tried to reinstall xp and it wont let me.. got to the page where it starts to load up and error ocurred.. please help and many thanks.

Hi Anju and welcome to PCHF, can you access your computers Bios and verify that the HDD shows up ok.

Hiya thanks for replying quick... I can get to bios.. but it wont let me do nothing..I see files that are in there thats shadded it wont let me do anything.. computer doesnt recognise HDD

At mo I am on my second tower bought second hand with xp on I can access here.... which is a blessing... this thing is so slow too.. and wont accept the downloads from microsoft.. thats another prob. . I can acess here and internet but it shuts down and has to restart.. but main prob is my main pc

I must go bed now.. it past midnight...I will post again tomoz...if you can help.. would appreciate it.. I will hook up the main pc tomoz... just post what you need me to find please, then I will post answre tomoz

Hiya I am still having not much luck at all but I have managed to xp disk in.. and tried to install..but.. after it started to run it came up with error message.. after the insatll raid thing?? it came up csmos.. or something.. and smart drive ide..not on/? so confused thanks again Anju

Hello.

Please make sure that the Hard Drive is securely connected to the motherboard. Also make sure the ribbon cable is securely connected into the HDD itself.
