Question [Answered] Validation PUrgatory

This is really begining to fry my chaps. I log into my lap top and get at least 8 digital signature validation dialog boxes. Once they are cleared, I try and go into the control panel and start the add/remove apps and another validation dialog pops up. I checked and it is doing it on ALL programs. I can not run anything.

Does any one know a way to get this to stop? I am running XP Home.

Thanks

I would love too but unfortunately, these validation requests will not let me even install anything because when I double click the exe, it given me a validation dialog, when i go to run and try that, same thing and when I go to new task, same thing. This is killing me!!!!

How long ago did the problem start to occur?

About two months ago. Before you ask, I tried the windows restore and I can not even get in to do that! This is getting crazy. I want to just pull all my stuff off, if it will let me and reformat this thing but you know Dell doesn't ship the windows XP discs or the office discs anymore so I have nothing. They want to charge me $39 to remotely fix this thing. I would rather just reformat unless you guys have som other ideas that might help.

I think that would be the best thing. Pull your data off and re format. Whats the Serial number of your dell, and i can look up the reformat procedure for you.

I have that already just not wanting to go that route if it could have been avoided. I still wonder what might have caused this to happen. This is actually a friends laptop and I am attempting to fix this for him. I run the IT department for my job and to be honest I have never seen this before. It had Macfee suite on it but he took that off. The event viewer say Mcfee was not finding aome file. I told my bud he should have NEVER installed Mcfee just because of this very thing. AVG is the way to go. I think he will listen now! LOL

Any ideas off the top of your head as to why or how this happened?
