Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes anyway;

Recently, I lost my operating system (don't ask how, clueless myself) and almost all my files on my HD's.

I formatted, and tried to reinstall Windows XP Professional on a 320GB Western Digital SATA disk. This however, proved to be a problem.

Whenever I run the install, it seems to be working until the stage in installation where I have to reboot, then it just keeps rebooting and giving the install menu, without going out of that loop.

When I install it on a classic IDE HDD however, it works fine.

My motherboard is an ASUS Pundit P1-AH2 motherboard.

Any ideas?

There might be a couple of things that you can try, firstly in the BIOS make sure that your system is running as IDE, not sata/Raid (can't remember where in the BIOS) also you might need t have the SATA Raid drivers handy on a floppy disk from here and tap F6 at the beginning of the install process.
