Default [Pending] Boot up problems

On botting up my laptop I get the following message:

'Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
system32/DRIVERS/pci.sys.
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM
I have however lost the original CD-ROM. Any ideas how I can solve this?

Thanks

to PCHF.

You have two choices.

1. Buy a copy of the file from Download sys-p

or

2. Buy a new copy of XP Pro SP2

I suggest you go with option number 2, because you will need the CD for other repairs.

It is possible that after you install a copy of pci.sys, your computer will tell you that you need another file as well.

So, I recommend you go with option number 2.

You do not want to try to boot from a different XP Install CD.

What you can do with the CD is click on the System File Checker link in my signature area and follow the directions.
