Default [Pending] Startup problems

Hi, when loading up my laptop almost everytime it goes onto this black screen menu with white writing on asking me to choose whether or not to start windows in safe mode, normal mode, last known good configuration etc. after about 5 or 6 times of pressing enter on any one of the above methods of startup, it starts to run fine. Any suggetions on how to stop this? thanks x

I select normal mode and then it reboots from the windows xp screen and then goes on to the startup method menu. A blue screen with white writing flashes up for about half a second then goes to the startup method select. After about 5 or 6 times it just loads as normal and runs fine. It says the computer didn't start successfully which may be due to a recent change in hardware... Its annoying cos it takes about 8 minutes to load up to the main screen every time.

The files are normally saved in c:\windows\minidump

The files for example if you have received a BSOD yesterday will look like Mini080807-01.dmp. Can you attach a few if possible.

Failing that, as a last resort, the only other option is to get as much information as possible when the appears for a second before restarting, so you may need to watch for it many times before getting all the information you need. The specific information I'm looking for is highlighted here:

We really do need this information before we can help you further, as there are thousands of possible causes both hardware and software.
