Default [Pending] Help Recovering a Lost File

I was typing in Microsoft Works Word Processing and I lost power to the computer, thereby losing most of my work. I believe I have found the autosave .tmp file and have made a copy of it on my desktop for easy reference. If I am correct in thinking that this is the lost .wps document autosave how doI comvert the file into the proper format to read it as a .wps file? Otherwise how can I recover the missing file if that is not the proper one? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi and welcome to PCHF

Try right-clicking on the file and selecting "Open with.." then Notepad (make sure you uncheck the box "Always open with..."). It may be easier than getting Works to attempt to re-compile it all.

How does it look in Notepad? Can you find your work?

Unfortunately I have tried openning it as many different document types. I have also tried to rename a copied version of the file but that failed as well, not that I had much hope in that working. How would I set about recompiling the document for Works 7.0?
