Default [Resolved] Windows XP Update Icon Left in System Tray

I continually get an update icon in my sytem tray. I install it but it comes back with an error message; "Some updates could not be installed. The following update could not be installed". When I reboot my computer, the icon always comes back and I can't get rid of it. It's always the same update. Microsoft.NET framework, version1.1, Service Pack 1 (KB928366).

I'd apreciate any help in getting rid of this annoying thing?

Hello.

Try downloading and installing MS .NET Framework manually:
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Community (NetFx3)

Let us know how it goes.

Default update icon stuck in system tray

Hello Chiaz,

Thanks for you help. I thought it was a great idea since it was the latest version and should logically have gotten rid of the previous update icon. However, the update icon is still sitting in the system tray.

If you can come up with another idea, I'll give it a shot.

Thanks again for your help.

Just got the answer to my question from using Google. The answer is: Go to windows update website. Choose "Custom" install. It'll scan your computer and present a list of updates. One will be the problem update. Uncheck the box next to it and you'll be able to select a box that says "don't show this update again". I selected this box and rebooted my computer and it FINALLY sent away.
