Default [Pending] Windows wont load

I have had a problem for a while now, if I turn my pc off I have trouble turning it back on.

When the pc starts up it gets to the screen with the windows logo and the progress bar at the bottom, the progress bar moves for a bit then the pc freezes. I then have to turn the pc off, a message shows the pc was not shut down properly next time I turn it on, sometimes it can freeze on this screen also or even just not do anything when I turn it on.

Sometimes I can sit there for an hour keep turning it on and off, eventually it will get past the windows logo screen and fully load up, once I am at the desktop the pc runs fine so we just leave it on all the time. But sometimes it will reboot on its own or an update will require a reboot and I am back to turning it on and off for hours again

The pc is an Advent T9100, pentium 4, 3.2e ghz with windows xp if its any help.

Can anyone help me please?

Ive had this problem with my Advent T9306, though not with updates. Can you restart the PC and enter the Bios using the delete key. And also tell me whether all your boot devices are appearing.

e.g. CD Rom, Hard Disk Etc. It maybe that a cable has come loose inside thew case, and needs removing and inserting again
