Question [Answered] XP Performance and Maintenance setup PROBLEM

Hello! .. guess I've done something that W XP are not use to and no I dont knopw the way back!

I was trying to configure the power settings in Start-Control Panel-Performance and Maintenance-Power Options. I wanted to rename the Power schemes and since there's no option for this I've created new once and daleted the old .. a way I thought I'll achieve the renaming BUT when I pressed apply not only the once I deleted aren't there but also the new once I've created ..

It appears that nobody was expecting this and there no option for inputing a new scheme .. no I've got the schemes empty abd everything else is blank ..

There's one more user on the CPU and the Power management there is OK ..

What can I do .. how to input a new scheme .. or can the previous setting be restored .. or is there a way to copy the setting for the other XP user?????

Thnx for the help!!!
JT

Hi there and welcome to PCHF, you could try a System Restore, back to before you did it.

Sure click on Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, and click on System Restore, and then choose a restore point.

Did it and there's no change in the Power schemes! Still empty and the windows where the time settings are to be chosen are locked ..

I've got two users in the XP .. one is admin where I install all the programs and the the Power Management is ok there but on the other one is the way I've explained .. isn't there a way to copy the setting from admin to the other user??

The only thing i can suggest that you do is to create a new user account and copy all personal file over from the old user account into the new one.

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile

Oh no, so theres's no way to create a new power scheme so that the it'll be workable?

And waht did I do wrong? Deleting the original schmes? Why did it delete the once I've created?
