Ok guys, I put in a different vid card I had laying around. After starting up the pc and then changing my resolution to pref, I got a bsod. This one was different though, it said DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I have attached the dump code of this dump for viewing. Maybe this can shed some light upon the situation. Not also keep in mind that I don't remember why I have this vid card laying around, can't remember if I just wanted to upgrade or if I was having problems with it. If this sounds like maybe this card is bad, I can probably do some more digging and come up with another to test with if needed, it just means I have to tear my kid apart from her pc to pull her card. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Scott

Drivers are hardware-specifc-- in order to test that card --you need to uninstall the old drivers and install new ones-- I should have mentioned that previuosly. My bad-- sorry
If you can, download the installation for the other card to a CD and install from that (saves having to swap back and forth)

Wierd thing again, with the different vid card in, with my resolution set at 800x600, I'm not getting the bsod like I do with the higher resolution... Could it be something with my agp slot on the mobo???? This has got me so stumped........... Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

I don't think that BSOD would come up from much other than Driver issues. At least, in my personal experience, I haven't seen it in any other case. Go here:

DriverAgent.com Fix Your Driver Problems Instantly with Driver Agent

Run a scan and see if your video card ends up with a Red X.

I agree with Rodents-- sometimes you have to go in and clean out the old driver bits left from old installs. In fact, I would definitely suggest this as part of your video-card assessment-- all of your issues could be driver based.

Uninstallers -- even Windows own... are notorious for being "sloppy"
--leaving bits and pieces behind that can cause conflicts. That is why we have apps like Driver Cleaner and Registry Cleaners ( there are good free ones-- don't spend anything on them )
