Default [Fixed] Media Player Problems

Sorry if this is the wrong forum...

But whenever i open a video, whether it's in Windows Media Player or Realplayer etc,, or even one via the web the video, well it's kinda red and whitey, kinda like the opposite of the normal colours...

I've got a feeling that it happens only after my screensaver has come on, as when i first boot my pc up it doesn't happen. Or it may be about some of the settings i changed when i needed to take a screenshot from a video...

Sorry about being kinda vague, but it's a little hard to explain, will go into more detail if needed

And ideas on what to do?

Edit: Here's a pic

Thanks in advance guys, help would be appreciated

i would think its one of your codecs thats getting jammed up because of a process.
try 2 things,
1. disable your screensaver and see if the problem persists
2. reinstall any codec that the video might need to play(i.e AC3 or XVID etc).
and if possible install the newest version.

another idea for you is to try and see if the video plays like that on another media player, i reccomend VLC media player, download it, its free, and it has all the needed codecs alread in it.

hope that helps

Thanks for the reply

I've already got VLC, just tested it and it runs normally...

I'll fiddle around with the screensavers, see if it changes anything...

I've disabled the screensaver, and installed the two codecs you mentioned above, but it's still the same...

Are there any other codecs you reccomend i download? And do you think i should restart my pc?

Thanks

well i recommend getting k-lite codec pack
it has every codec youll need

if the problem doesnt happen in vlc then its either a problem with the codecs or with media player.

install the codec pack and see if it solves it, if not try to reinstall media player
