Default [Pending] installing xp with new hard drive

Alright, i have a problem. I just purchased a new hard drive and ive been trying to install windows xp on my pc. Everytime i boot up the pc, it gives me the message "Reboot & select proper boot device, or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." I have 3 boot devices which are my cdrom, cd writer and my hard drive. Ive tried everything and it just doesn't detect my xp cd. Any ideas?

oh i have a hp pavilion with a intel pentium 4 processor, 500gb hdd.

Hi welcome to the forum A lot of the time I have found it is best to have one CD/DVD drive pluged in when trying to boot from the XP cd might be worth a try first. And you will also need to set it to boot from the CD/DVD drive in the bios

Hi, go into the BIOS and look for an option that says something like Boot Order (or similar). Set that option to the following order: A:\ (Floppy), CD-ROM, Hard Disk.

Then when it says Boot from CD when your computer is booting up, you should be able to boot from the XP cd.

Thanks,
Adam
