Default "old" Version of XP Home?

Hi
I am running Windows XP Home 5.1.2600 Version 2002 Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
I have my computer set on automatic for Microsoft Security updates. Tonight I found the icon in the task bar tray telling me to download the updates. I did this and when I tried to install them, the message was that these updates were for a newer version , Does this version, do you think, mean Vista?
I got the very same messaage when I tried to install Spybot from the website.
Not sure what to do about this so if anyone out there would be good enough to offer me some advise, I would be grateful
Thanks

Hi Snoopy, it would be very strange if they meant Vista...
Are you able to take a screenshot of the error and post it up?

Default Old version of XP

Hi GaRHaR
Thanks for reply. Strangely enough I am unable to reproduce the "old version fault." However, I tried again to download the Mocrosoft Updates and it told me that it was downloading and installing. The actual downloads never appeared but the page telling me that the updates were being installed, appeared. The cursor just blinked and blinked at this point and nothing happened. So I tried again to download the Updates and this time the green lines that run across the screen to access the latest upodates just ran and ran and ran--nothing ever happened.
I finally managed to download SpyBot from the actual website with no problem Is this a free program and will it clean trojans? When I ran it I seemed to have tons of trojans which no other anti virus has ever picked up. Could this be the problem. It will also not allow me to download Genuine Advantage (my XP Home was preloaded), Sorry I know this is confusing.
Thanks again

Hi
Could someone please explain to me why "microsoft works not working please help"is on my question page?
This question was submitted by another member and is totally unrelated to my problem?
I am sure this is an oversite
Could this be the reason I have not had a reply to my Hijack this posting?
I am totally confused!!!

Hello.

Your HijackThis log appears clean to me. I've deleted your thread in the Spyware/Adware forum to make things neater.

Is there any way you can post a screenshot up as GarHar suggested?
