Question [Answered] Format

A virus recently found its way on to my computer. AVG eventaully took care of it but its left to much corruption on my hard drive, so I've decided to format the drive and reinstall XP with my recovery disk. I've got some pretty important work for college on there tho but its all on the other hard drive i've got: D:/.

If I format C:/ and reinstall XP, will all the documents, MP3s, MOVs, everything of D Drive remain intact?? Thanks. Alex.

If you give the command that C:\ should be formatted D:\ won't be formatted...
Just be sure you do it right and don't format D:\ instead of C:\
I have a situation quite similar to you and did the same and from own experience I can tell you it will work out fine!

There is not reason for a format of the C: drive to affect the D: drive.
Just be sure to read all the screen that come up.
Don't ASSUME that hitting enter or clicking on next is OK.
My only question is what your recovery disk does. But, it shouldn't repeat shouldn't affect your personal files.

However, recommend you back up your personal files onto CDs if you can. Call it insurance.

Good Luck...

BTW: a_major, you're sure that you have 2 HD and not 1 HD with 2 partitions?

Yeah pretty - I'd had to format my computer due to a fault XP startup driver and when the format was over, everything on the D: drive was the same, it's just then, all my music on on C. But it was a rubbish collection then anyways.
Thanks everyone.
