my famies pc had a similar problem, only ours slowed down when right clicking on files, but if this is the only thing that does this, try opening windows explorer, i believe its called, its like mycomputer, only a slightly older interface, see if this works, if not we'll look into it further

That didn't really do anything...
What happens is that when I click on My computer to open it, and the my computer screen pops up, it says that it is searching for the info on "my computer" and it takes a very long time to do. It also happens any time I try to right click anything and to "open with" or if I access anything that goes through "my computer"

Hi!

There is something that requires time to be examinated before it can be shown in My Computer...it could be a big HD or a CD...though, 1 minute is too long...
I don't have a clear solution for you but maybe (or should I say probably around here?)someone else...

Robin

Hello schneem.

Open My Computer.
Click Tools --> Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
The first box says "Automatically search for network folders and printers'. Uncheck the box next to it.
Click "Apply" or "OK".

Try accessing My Computer again, let's see if this does the trick.

unfortunately, that did not work either. I am going to post my computer specs on here, maybe that will give some insight. Or maybe it is because I have a Dell and they are destined to screw up at some point

Hi guys.
When My Computer runs slow - it means that you need to Defrag your computer probably about 20 times

Do it...at least 10, and you should see an improvement in general Windows usage.
