Question [Answered] Backup XP System

I have just gotten a call from a friend who works at a Saloon and the owner needs someone to put another hard drive in the main computer there and make it so that it backups everything everyday. I have never done this before.. any help accepted.

Thanks,
Adam

Hmmm, there are several programs to automate the backuping, but the only one I can remember now is Nero BackItUp...probably other members know some better stuff...

Thanks but that seems to be a little too expensive for what he wants. Anything else?

Thanks,
Adam

Hey Eagle,

I think that the best plan really would be to get an external drive and back up to that using ntbackup. The main reason is that with an internal drive you are backing up locally, if the pc is broken/stolen, the data is gone with the system. Try a 2.5" usb powered drive that the person can back up to and then put in the safe/take it home then the data and pc are seperate.
The only cost involved here is the drive as nt backup come with the o/s.
P.S. this doesn't backup an image like Ghost does but if you back up all the drives and the system state you can do what's called a bare metal restore. ( put the o/s back onto the system and then restore from backup which would restore the system to how it was at the last back up)
