Smile [Pending] Cannot rewind or fast forward in Media Center 2005

Greetings,

With a fresh install of Windows Media Center 2005, it appears that I cannot either fast forward, or rewind any content that is either being mp3s, avi files, mpeg files, dvr recorded files that i have recorded with media center 2005 previously. I am using the same exact mpeg decoder as i've always used. I verified the files are intact as far as corruption goes. I've even nuked the drive again and tried to reinstall the OS from scratch and tried a different known working mpeg2 decoder. still same problem.

I can open up the dvr file (.ms) and view it on windows media player 10 it will fast forward and rewind with no problems. I know there is a command line out there that will reset the media center app to defaults and basically reinstall at the same time without reinstalling the os which in my case does nothing to remedy the problem.

So any help would be great.

Thanks.

no sir, you are god.

Thank you for finding that.

Now i have other issues with the box. Seems the machine will boot anything but any version of Windows (this is usually a good thing but now its annoying) I even own store bought retail versions of XP Pro and MCE 05. It will boot Linux (any version) including the macintel amd sse2 sse3 10.4.9 x86 projects.

All hardware seems ok. all diagnostics (motherboard, controllers, ram, video, drives, power supply) are all coming back as green and OK. I just don't get it. I've tried multiple drives and controllers. i even dropped a scsi card (2940u) with an 18 gig scsi drive i have laying around and it wouldnt boot that either. I'm taking it into work with me tomorrow and i'll slap it down on the bench and rebuild it. Since I work in IT, it shouldnt be a problem.

Sometimes simple things are overlooked, did you try resetting the BIOS? (may seem stupid but it's saved my arse a few times )

oh yeah that's the first thing I did with trouble shootin. I just have the bare hardware required to boot hooked up at the moment. I've even tried reverting back to a earlier bios image. but I cand get the **** awardflash util to work right. its booting a clean disk for flashing but the util will not accept the keyboard commands to initiate. I tried ps/2 and usb. if its not one thing its another :/

Wow what a pain, have you tried a standard IDE drive?
