Malaysians, and people of the surrounding regions, like Indonesia and Brunei.

The reason I asked is because I know a little conversational Malay, and Tagalog seems similiar in the way that both have "Salamat" in their vocabulary.

in tagalog, "salamat" means thanks.

what is "salamat" in Malay? i'm just curius?
by the way, am i the only Filipino here?

Similar meaning in Malay language as far as I know, it's used in almost every greeting such as:
Selamat pagi = Good morning
Selamat petang = Good evening
Selamat malam = Good night


I don't believe you are the only Filipino (do you all call yourselves pinoys?) here.

i've never met a Filipino here..

yes, we call ourselves pinoy.
sometimes we use pinay for Filipino women.
