Red face backgrounds non functioning

Before last Thanksgiving, I downloaded a free screen saver (my bad) and since then I cannot change the background or desktop that was last put on. When you look into the display setup, all the background selections are marked out with a O with / through it. The other display properties function. What can I do to correct this? My son saved a religous type desktop and now I cannot change it. The problem had already developed prior to this download though. This is driving me nuts. This is not the computer that the problem occurred on. thanks for any help.

I have to ask the obvious.. have you tried the un-install? If the problem already had developed prior to this install, do you have a Video card? Or just onboard. If there is a card, make sure of the drivers that run it( as in update them... usually in the help tab there will be an 'update drivers' section).,.....

Set any other changes you might have made back to defaults and then, from there, you can make changes to enhance what you wish.

I know that the good folks here will have other ideas to help you.

Hope this helps you on your way.
