Default Icons gone, computer crashing

Well I really don't know if this is a windows problem or a hardware problem. I'm guessing it's something with the windows. forgive me if I'm wrong; Well today I was playing the sims like I usually do. But today when I quit the game, the icons on my desktop where all gone. I thought it was nothing and if I restarted it would go back to normal. It didn't. it shows only a few icons, My computer,Firefox,My documents icons don't show. it just shows that icon like when you have some file but lacks the program to run it you know? and the same show on My computer, my folders and everything else. Plus the pc is crashing everytime I get a link on msn, and I had to uninstall firofox cause it was crashing on everysite just as the windows media player crashing all the time. I don't think The sims can do that right? Can anyone help me? I'm really lost here Thanks in advance

Well sorry for taking so long. I did everything the topic said, but I wasn't able to save the report from AVG, dunno why. If this helps it only found 4 treats and they where:trackingcookie.casalemedia, trackingcookie.com, trackingcookie.Doubleclick and trackingcookie.tribalfusion. The only file that keep reapering in the CCleaner was IE Temporary Internet Files(9,57Kbs) and the HijackThis log is atached here

Hi!

IE Temporary Internet Files are not a virus or something but are just files that Internet Explorere stores on your PC to load websites faster the next time you open them...
I don't think the trackingcookies cause the problem (altought I'm not very trained at security)...
We'll just have to wait untill a person with a trained ey takes a look at your HijAckThis-log...

Robin

I took a quick glance, HijackThis log looks clean. Cookies will not cause the problems you are experiencing.
