Windows XP/2000 - [Answered] Won't boot all the way to the desktop posted in the Operating Systems forums; I have a Windows XP Professional computer. It won't boot pass the windows xp loading screen. My cd rom won't read the xp cd. What should I do next?...

Hello Yolanda82, welcome to PCHF.

When you insert the XP setup CD, the most common message shows "Press any key to boot from CD...", does this message appear? Make sure you are using an original full XP cd and not a upgrade or copy.

Finally, make sure you check the boot priority of the CD in BIOS (normally [DEL] or F2). Look for Boot Device Priority, and make sure the CD-ROM has the highest priority.
