Hey! I'm having sound problems. When I play a DVD on my computer the sound is bad, like the people speaking are in a large room (kind of muffled and distant). I tried another DVD and it was the same problem - really quiet and muffled. I tried listening with headphones thinking that the problem might be with my speakers but the result was the same. However, when I play music, its fine. What is going on here? Any ideas?

"Idea" I can give you now. Solutions will take a little longer.
Was the DVD sound ever good or did is just start going bad? Recommend checking your Device Manager for any indications of bad devices. Awaiting your answers...

Maybe it has something to do with the soundsettings in the program you use to play the DVD? If it is set to a 5.1 speakerset and you play it on a 2.0 speakerset usually the voices are in low volume and the backgroundsounds in high volume. Maybe this could be it? What do you say Gandalf?

I remember on my old PC I had a software that ran my sound options instead of windows. Within that program you could set the sound settings such that one of the options made it sound like you were in a concert hall, another in a bathroom ect. I believe it was a phillips sound card and software. Maybe you have it set to a different environment which I remember being in control panel.

Indeed BaZar2020, this was also an option with my audiocard (not a Philips BTW)...
vfpedro, please go to Control Panel and then Sounds and Audiodevices (this last name can be little different, just think logic). Check the options under Speakersettings (also can the name be different), also look in the submenu, if you can find something like Speakerset-up. Look if this option matches your speakers...also, wich program do you use to play the DVD? Robin
