Hey, i didnt know where else to post a new thread so i thought i'd reply to this one to get a question in. Sorry if its in the wrong place, but im eager to play a game and i am having troubles installing directx. When i tried installing directx, it waits for a while and then comes back with an error message saying it couldnt install it. I looked for the directx file on my computer and only a portion of it was installed, the whole file wasnt able to install. Does anyone know why this happened, and what i can do to fix it? I am trying to get Fable to work and i cant play this game without directx i dont think. The game stops after the storyline and hangs up my computer. As you can tell, im eager to find out whats going on so i can fix this problem . Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don't know exactly what might be causing this. Have you done all Windows updates? Is your computer's GPU compatible with this version of DirectX? Have you tried installing DirectX from somewhere besides the game disk?

I have all the windows updates, im not sure if its because i have Windows Vista that might be causing the problem? I dont know too much about directx unfortionately, all i know is most games require it...right? As far as i know, my computer's GPU is compatible with directx, and i went onto the internet to install it. I didn't get it from the game disk. Maybe i should try installing it from the game disk? I'll try that quick, and let you know what happens...

If you're running Windows Vista, it will already have DX10 installed for you.
You won't need to reinstall it.

Another thing to check is your graphics card driver up to date? this will effect the game as well

You see, i just got this new computer and it has Windows Vista on it. I'm not used to Windows Vista at all, and i didnt know that directx was automatically on here? I checked the directx file though, and it doesnt completely load. It has trouble loading the whole thing, so i know its been installed wrong/not been completely installed. Last night i tried a whole bunch of other sites but nothing would let me download a complete version of directx. I'm not sure about my graphics driver being up to date, i just got this computer less than a month ago. Wouldnt it be up to date? I dont know, im confused and i dont know how else to get a full version of directx on this bloody thing hehe
