Default [Answered] Blue screen of death

My desktop would not boot up and kept getting the blue screen of death so i removed the drive and connected it to my laptop. It was originally partitioned as drives C and D but after having connected it to the laptop has been changed to G and H since my laptop already has drives named C and D. If i reconnect it to the desktop will it automatically adjust the drive letters as it wont allow me to change them in disk management on the laptop?
Also, whats the best way to diagnose the issue i was having with the blue screen on the desktop drive while i have it attached to the laptop? Thanks.

Go to the partition on the BSOD hard drive that contains its Windows installation. go to X:\WINDOWS\Minidump if it's Windows XP (whereas X is the drive letter for the partition that has Windows on it) and post back, attaching the contents of that folder to your next post.

You are using a Netgear network card in that computer, yes? I believe you've got a broken driver for it, if so.

But we also need to knock out RAM memory from this, as the dumps also suggest that may be a cause. Go to Memtest86.com and download/burn the utility. Then boot from it to test your RAM. Let it run overnight (on the PC that has the problem, of coourse), make a note of the number of errors it says in the morning, and then manually stop it. Depending on how many errors it gets, we may need you to replace your RAM.

I put the drive back in started it up with all the cards, usb devices etc removed and it managed to boot up for some reason. Ive been running a memtest and after a 130% coverage ive had 165 errors so far and its only been running 10 minutes. I think its safe to assume the RAM is ******. Thanks again for your help and advice, its much appreciated.

Run Memtest again, this time with only 1 stick in. Keep scanning 1 stick at a time until you find the problem one(s).

The reason it booted with the devices removed is because one of them has a bad driver. Put everything back, boot into Safe Mode, and go to Device Manager (you can get there by right-clicking on My Computer and going to the Hardware tab). Now, I need you to find that Network adapter and open it up to see if you can roll back the driver. If not, uninstall the driver and use the CD that came with it or post back with the exact model of the network adapter to see if we can find the most recent driver.
