Boot up screen with pc

hi, i have a problem with my pc, every time i boot it up i have a lovely black screen for what seems like hours with loads of white writing on it and also a count down in seconds??????? it has been like it for months ever since my husband done something to my pc and it will not go. The main problem is it takes forever to load up now. any ideas on how to get rid of this????
any advice would be excellent.

Can you please post a screenshot of the screen you are describing so that we can have a better idea what is going on?
