hi all
am thinking of changing motherboard and am wondering if i'll still be able to use my xp mce 2005 and vista ultimate which i have in dual boot. or are they gonna make me buy another disc?
am in a bit of an upgrade patch at present just hope microsoft are gonna be friendly about this.

Hey Born,

It's always best practice to re-install Windows after changing motherboard hardware, but I know what it's like sometimes when you have a complex setup, you really don't want to do it unless you reeeeeeaaalllyy have to! You may get away without doing a re-install, as long as you keep the same make of motherboard, and one that is similar in model. If your lucky, all you will find when you boot into Windows is a few "New Hardware Found" messages.

As for Microsoft, as long as you have a legal copy of Windows, your entitled to use that single copy wherever you want. You may be put through to a Microsoft representative, and you can just explain that you have just upgraded your PC. You won't be the first, and certainly not the last.
