Default win xp ntldr error

Hi guys, have a bit of a problem...

Ok i have a pc here that has some major errors (so i am told) so far ony error i get is missing ntldr, so it wont boot.
Ok i thought no drama, ill just whak in win xp and try fixboot, fixmbr .... just to check edition i looked on side panel, the o/s edition is xp media centre edition 2005
now i only have xp home and pro, so my question is can i use those disks to do this? (dont want to do anything that may compromise the already (dodgy) system)

the tower has no floppy drive so cant look for info for floppy boot, is there anything else i can do?

cheers

I do not think Windows XP will allow you to use a different Install CD than the operating system was created with. Unless "the o/s edition is xp media centre edition 2005" is an old sticker, I suggest you look for "the o/s edition is xp media centre edition 2005" Installation CD.

There are HDD recovery applications available, if you want to spend the money.

Good Luck...

Do you require additional assistance with this problem?

at present no, i have not heard from the guy for a couple weeks so assuming its cleared.

Its funny, i had no problems with it once id repaired and wot not, but as soon as he put his backed up files back on he had the symptoms again! i tried explaining it has to be something to do with those files.

not heard since so maybe, just maybe he re-wrote his media than just reins all his info
