Default Partition problem installing Win XP Pro on a

I've just installed a new 320GB SATA hard drive and am trying to install windows on it. When I try to install Windows, though, setup will only format a partition about 120-130GB in size. I tried running the copy of Windows XP Pro on my old drive and using Computer Management to create an NTFS partition the size of the entire drive, which worked... but setup doesn't like that partition and still wants to create one about 120-130GB. What's the deal?

Insert the XP disk then start the PC, you should be prompted to boot from CD - then follow the instructions above.
