Default [Resolved] InstallShield error

Whenever I try to install a new game I just bought (The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) it immediately gives me an error when the install shield starts up:

Error Code: -5005 : 0x8007000d
Error Information:
>Kernel\KernelMedia.cpp (95)
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1479)
PAPP:Oblivion
PVENDOR:Bethesda Softworks (Bethesda Softworks)
PGUID:35CB6715-41F8-4F99-8881-6FC75BF054B0
$11.0.0.28844
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 17422.31889
I've read about this and it seems to be a problem with permissions, but I'm not sure. Does anybody have any experience with this error? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Wolf

EDIT: I found this on the InstallShield website, and it tells you what to do, but not how to do it.

That looks to apply to SP1 Wolf, do you have SP2?

I have Service Pack 2, and my XP system is fully updated. I'm totally lost.

I think the error is because the install can't write to My Documents because it is set as read only. I'm not able to make it writable to, but I posted a new thread for that.

EDIT: Turns out that's not the problem.

That theread was here: http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...read-only.html

Can you try one thing Wolf. Navigate to C:\Program Files. Right click on the folder "InstallShield" and rename it to "InstallShieldX". And then try to install again?

I did that and it seems like it got a little farther. Rather than immediatly giving the error messege, it loaded two bars in the progress bar and then gave me the same error. Does that mean anything? Thanks for your help. I've been waiting for weeks to be able to play this game.

The extra time spent was most likely used to put a clean version of the InstallShield folder back in it's place. This confirms it's the version of the InstallShield used by Betheda (7.0) and not one that was already on your PC.

Do you have enough space to copy the contents of the CD to your HDD? If so, can you create a folder on your desktop called say Oblivion. Then copy the contents of the CD to that folder and then run setup from there?
